ITC Releases Section 201 Solar Tariff Decision

The solar tariffs are estimated to increase the cost of solar panels by about $0.10 per watt at the wholesale level, but it is too early to tell the full impact to the end customer.


New Section 201 Solar Tariffs - What Does It Mean?

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) released its decision on the Section 201 solar trade case on 1/22/2018. The decision imposes a 30% solar import tariff on crystalline silicon solar cells and modules the first year and steps down 5% per year to 15% in the 4th year.  2.5 gigawatts of solar cells are exempt from the tariffs each year.
